A Silicon Carbide Shaft is a precision ceramic shaft manufactured from high-performance reaction-bonded or sintered silicon carbide material. It represents a revolutionary alternative to metal shafts in the most extreme operating conditions.
This product combines exceptional wear resistance, superior corrosion resistance, high rigidity, and low density, and is specifically designed to solve shaft application challenges in high-speed, highly corrosive, high-temperature, and ultra-clean environments.
- Core Material: Reaction-Bonded / Sintered Silicon Carbide
- Extreme Hardness & Wear Resistance: SiC is one of the hardest materials in the world, second only to diamond and CBN. This gives it super resistance to abrasive wear, resulting in a service life far exceeding that of tool steel, stainless steel, and other metals.
- Excellent Chemical Corrosion Resistance: Resists corrosion from most strong acids (e.g., hydrochloric, sulfuric, nitric), strong alkalis, and oxidizers. It remains stable even in aqua regia.
- High Stiffness & Low Density: High elastic modulus means minimal bending deformation under load, maintaining extremely high rotational accuracy. Density is only about 3.1 g/cm³, approximately 40% that of steel.
- Superior High-Temperature Performance: Maintains its strength and shape at temperatures up to 1600°C, without oxidizing or softening.
- Low Thermal Expansion & High Thermal Conductivity: Low coefficient of thermal expansion ensures good dimensional stability with temperature changes. Good thermal conductivity helps rapidly dissipate frictional heat.
